Lee Tiger, a member of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida and a lifelong rocker, will launch the first of a series of concerts entitled “Native Rock Celebration” this Friday night at Hard Rock Cafe at the Hard Rock Resort and Casino in Hollywood.
The inaugural concert will feature three of the bigger hitters in the local indigenous music scene: The Osceola Brothers (teenagers with a bluesy sound), Ted Nelson and the Tee Pee Creepers (laid-back rockers), and Lee Tiger & The Tiger-Tiger Band.
The goal of the concerts are to “break through stereotypes” that Native American music is always geared toward pow-wow songs, Tiger said.
“We want to have Seminole and Native American bands represented around the nation and the world,” Nelson said. “Music keeps us going as a people.”
